Party Lips DA

Party Lips

Sometimes the most beautiful lip shades are not even lipsticks, but lipliners. Especially when the look I want to achieve is a diffused, opaque matt colour that sits seamlessly on the lips.

And with party season in full swing, a vibrant alternative to a red lip, is a pink one – a modern classic.

The key to wearing lip liner as lipstick is prepping the lips so that they are the softest and moisturised they can be.

The first step is to use a lip scrub, to smoothen out the lips. The second is to moisturise. Do this very early on in your makeup routine to give it time to soak in – as soon as the face cream is on, moisturise the lips. I reach for YSL’s tint in oil (in clear) every time, for me it really does the job. Once the rest of the makeup is applied, dab off the oil. Add a little highlighter to the cupids bow and blend in well.

You are now ready to draw and fill in.

For that seamless diffused look I used cotton buds to blend out any harsh lines. To finish and slightly soften the lipliner on the lips, I dabbed on a little of YSL’s Kiss & Blush – a beautiful creamy matt formula.
