A SPRINKLING OF GLITTER…
Is just as beautiful in the summer months as it is in the winter. Swapping gold and silvers for iridescent lilacs and blues. After all the most beautiful beaches glitter so magically!
I’ve always loved how a little sprinkling of glitter can transform a look, adding so much marvel and interest, without actually wearing too much makeup – perfect for summer. Iridescent glitter works so well, glimmering as the light catches it, while its opalescence sits more seamlessly on the skin.
I also wanted the lips to sparkle, but more subtly…using a gloss with the finest glitter particles to complete the look.
Wanting the focus to be on the glitter, I kept everything else very soft and dewy, nothing matt in sight. Adding edge to the look (seen more in the close up shot of the eyes), I applied a little gel liner, with a brush, lining both the upper and lower sockets. I wanted a lived in, washed your face but didn’t get all your eye-makeup off look! The trick to achieve this is to really blend the gel in between the lashes and to soften the excess of the gel with cotton buds and not a brush – works a treat.
The glitters I used are the very sparkly Kryolan glitters, in Pearl Lila and Pearl Blue, dabbing the glitter on using my fingers. Before I applied with those beautiful glitters, I used a light wash of pearly white Shu Uemura eye shadow (906) on the eyelids.
Now for the magic! Get a bit of glitter on your finger, gently blow any excess off and apply. Repeat as desired. Apply it so you can still see skin in-between all the glitter, starting with the pearl blue first, and then pearl lilac. Use cotton buds to get the glitter into the inner corner of the eyes. And for that splash of summery colour I used blue eyeliner by PUPA in the waterline. PUPA is and Italian cosmetics brand that I came across on my travels there. I love the vibrancy and colours of their khols. (Will a provide a great alternative below.)
To tie in the iridescence throughout the look, I used BECCA’s shimmering skin perfector in Pearl for dewiness and glow, and opted for a liquid blusher instead of a powder one on the cheeks, using Benefits Cha Cha Tint in ‘Mango’.
And for that subtle sparkle on the lips, layering Chanel’s glossimer gloss in and ‘Astral’ and ‘Ocean Spray’ works so beautifully to achieve this.
